The "Imagine" performance on Glee was stunning. Very moving (once I got over thinking that Mercedes was just singing along because the deaf kids couldn't hear her) and the best part was watching the kids interact with each other and the beautiful layering of the singing with the deaf boy speaking.

I mean, clearly the deaf boy wasn't as GOOD as the rest of them, but that added to the words. "Imagine all the people living life in peace", "The world will be as one", etc.

I just downloaded the song, and he's COMPLETELY cut from it. JUST New Directions singing. I guess it sounds "nicer", but....miss the point much?

BOO.

also, I just experianced Target Black Friday sale. We got in the store at 5:30 and the $3 painini presses were already sold. Not surprised, but disappointed.
I did manage to get the $11 dart board (only $2 off, but oh well) and $4 Elf DVD and $7 puffy vest. My Dad did LOTS of shopping...combined, we saved $130. Pretty legit right there!

I'm a fan of The Princess and the Frog on facebook. So today, when I saw that they said the soundtrack came out today, I literally got up right then, pulled out my money, called my friend, and we went to Borders to get it. XD

It's not the BEST Disney soundtrack ever, but it's quite good. And really, really fun. So I love it.

It just shows how dedicated I am and how weird my priorities are. Forget Christmas, forget my upcoming date that I have to pay for...psh. Gettin' a $15 CD (as opposed to the $10 iTunes one; I want to have the physcial disc since I intend on listening to it so much)!

koopalings are back!

Wendy says blahblahblah

TOMORROW the New Super Mario Brothers Wii comes out.

I was just medium excited when my mom told me it was coming out and when I watched the video. It's side-scrolling, which I ~love~, and supports multiple people playing at a time in adventure mode, which is also fantastic. But I'm so busy, I haven't even finished Mario Galaxy (fyi, I certainly have enough stars to win. I just haven't gone to fight Bowser yet.), so why would this be much different?

I found out why it's different! THE KOOPALINGS are in it! Unfortunately, Nintendo is continuing this annoying seperation of Bowser Jr. from his older 7 siblings, but I don't care. They're in it, and their designs are gorgeous! They've retained their looks, but look more unique from each other than ever. Especialy Iggy! He has a fountain of green hair, instead of a mohawk identical to Lemmy (who has a leetle ponytail sticking out now, that looks adorable!). And Iggy's new hair looks fantastic and super fitting on him! Also, he's lanky. Now Lemmy and Larry look most alike, which pleases me and my rather non-fanon approach to their birth order.

Ludwig looks good, too, Mika. His hair especially. :D

Now I'm just ~so excited~ that I don't know if I can wait until Christmas for this game. I honestly think I may end up renting it around Thanksgiving break or something.

yaaaay koopalings <3

thanks, sami

I came home from church and let Sami out to go potty, since she's been in the house for 3 hours. No problem. She comes back in and I go to the computer. Within minutes...the entire house starts to reek. So I take a few steps out of the computer room and Sami's staring up at me, looking absolutely ashamed with herself.

The rest of this is pretty tmi, dog style.

She left a trail from the backdoor, through the kitchen, the family room, and practically into the computer room of dog poo. Putrid, warm-and-wet, dog poo. And Sami has, of course, managed to coat her back legs, tail, and most of her entire back half in dog poo. HOW THE CRAP (literally) an 8-pound Papillion is able to do all that in a matter of minutes absolutely astounds me.

I took her outside and chopped off sizable chunks of fur with more solid pieces then carried her, Simba-style so she wouldn't cover me in her presents, to the sink and gave her the bath of a lifetime. Then I scrubbed up the floor. At least she had the decency to pretty much avoid the carpet. I just thank heaven Sami isn't a rottweiler or some other giant dog. She probably could have coated the entire floor.

OH THE JOYS OF HAVING AN ELDERLY DOG.

edit: We found more in the music room. just awesome.

Chapter 40 Notes

bxp cause-play

On my most recent update of CoH, the last bit was almost completely taken from something I wrote years ago. I really never do that...this is the only time I can think of that I've pulled something I prewrote into the story that wasn't just rearranging the PoV bits. But this was different!

I told my readers that I didn't want a long AN, so I'd just drabble about it here if they cared. This is kind of long and stream-of-concious-y, so it's under a cut :).

out on parole

Today I had a field trip to Michigan State Maximum Security Penitentiary...and it was awesome.
It was probably the most fascinating field trip I've ever gone on. We got to see cell block I, the "honor cells" as they called them; double cells for the older men who the officers knew wouldn't try to get at us. They're on lock-down right now because Monday an officer was stabbed in the head by four inmates, so we didn't get to go into the "scarier" cells. The officer we spoke to said they've been really rowdy all summer ever since the breakout in May (two guys escaped and got to about Indianapolis before they were caught; obviously, the jail was put on lockdown for aWHILE) But it was still fantastic. We also got to talk to an inmate about his experiances and opinions...it was very chilling and moving. As well as fascinating, of course.

Also, I'm excited because tomorrow I'm going to a Bulls game. :D This dude at my church works for the Chicago Bulls, so he is able to get free tickets to preseason games a lot. In years past, he's gotten enough so the young men could go as an activity. Last year, the young women were invited, too, and it was awesome beyond awesome.

I'm NOT a sportsy person and I really get bored watching sports on TV (and pretty much hate playing them, except soccer defense or fencing or just fun games with my friends). But seeing them in person is SO MUCH BETTER. Like football games at school! I LOVE them! And at the bulls game last year, I'd randomly get really into it and other times not care at all. My friends found that amusing, but really the game was just so fun. I think sports gets our primal nature, and watching them (even with crappy nose-bleed seats) makes me feel a little into the action.

This year, the guy in charge got enough somehow that other wards can come. So that means my friends from the other ward (including Josh) are going to go! I'm determined to sit next to Josh. Because things have been going...um...well? I feel like he doesn't care at all about me when I talk to him through texting or facebook, but I think that's because he doesn't like texting and he never goes on facebook. Because at the haunted corn maze we were at with our friends last week he kept bringing up the same conversation over and over again. AND when I was complaining about my coldstone coupon expiring and me not being able to get free ice cream, he said he'd take me out to get some once he gets his paycheck. And if I explained the whole story (it's a little long) it'd sound even more like he asked me out on a date. So that's good.

But it's still scary.

Hahahah, the bulls game is a little like the prison trip I went on! I'm excited out of my mind, but at the same time, it's a really scary thing. Hopefully, like the prison trip, nothing bad will come out of it. Only good things. :D

I'll be true

UGH.
I was gone ONE WEEKEND and had soooo much to get through on my flist. And the horrible thing was that the stuff I actually cared about (the personal entries) could probably cover only two pages. I would have been able to reply and stuff!

I love my communities and I like feeling like I'm actually up to date on everything (especially glee) but I think I might have to cut down on these comms.

TODAY'S MY BIRTHDAY YAAAAAAAAAAY. I went to Colorado for the weekend to visit my friend which was ~awesome~ but ridiculously short. I like my birthday a lot. :D Especially since the advent of Facebook, all these people know it's my birthday the second I walk in the room, even if I never mentioned it to them! AWESOME, yes. Also, my english teacher let me blow out a candle. XD

Also, last week was spirit week at school. It was pretty awesome, but the best day ever was Thurday; decades day. I love spirit day because it's so much fun to walk around and see other people dressed up. But thursday, when 90% of the dressed up people chose 70's or 80's, I went as a 50's house-wife. I had my mom help me with pin-curls the night before so my (already short enough) hair looked seriously legit, borrowed one of her short-sleeved button-up shirts to put under this pink dress I have, wore 7 layers of skirt under it (which was nice, since it was so COLD), black high-heels, and obnoxiously red lipstick and thicker than usual eyeliner.

I got SO MANY COMPLIMENTS it was disgusting. I chose 50's because 1) I LOVE the style and 2)I already knew I sorta have that look, but seriously, everyone I talked to had something positive to say about that I looked absolutely perfect for a 50's housewife, or that I looked really beautiful. A lot of people said it was weird telling someone they looked good on decades day, but that the look seriously worked for me. And the best part was that most of those people were boys. Including many who hardly ever talk to me and most who never compliment me.

I may have to curl my hair more often. :P

oh heavens
I just realized my subject is in facebook status form.

ANYWAY here is an email conversation I had with iTunes that explains the sob story and joyous ending that has prompted this-
emails are fun )

tl;dr- I lost all my music recently. Thought it was gone forever. Corporate giants at Apple are not ALL soulless customer crushers...they gave me every single thing I've dowloaded ever back for free.

I have 244 dowloads left from the original 330+, going right now. C: so much fun.

old auntie bones

<:E vekke

My aunt is so cute. She's 35 and never got married..which actually sounds very normal considering society. But she's never really had a serious boyfriend because she never really cared about it. She just recently got her PhD, so that's awesome. She used to joke that she was married to her education...she's literally been in college my entire life, minus one or two years when I was itty-bitty.

But anyway. She teaches at ISU (where she graduated from! huzzah!) and she's visiting us for a few days because she wanted to take her friend to the airport, plus this way she's closer to the temple and she can hang out with us. But a few months ago she met this guy and has SUCH a crush on him.

Today, they're going to the festival at Ravinia to watch the Chicago Symphony Orchestra preform with Yoyo Ma, which is doubly awesome because my aunt is a concert cellist and her crush is a musician as well.

It's just so funny, surreal, and adorable to see my aunt like this. She's been screaming a lot this trip, and I always think something horrible happened, but it's always something like "He asked me to drive him to the airport!" or something else about this guy. And she just goes around the house, giggling and grinning and telling me how much she feels like a teenager. She literally packed a suitcase full of food for their picnic at Ravinia today.

My aunt's such a serious girl and I've never seen her interested in anything but her music, her family, her education, or her beliefs. I'm so happy for her...even if this doesn't work out, I'm so happy she's legitimately happy.

Definately think the whole done-with-school helps. :D

filesize

ugh

I haven't done a legit art project on photoshop for so long I have no clue how to do dimensions. I figured "BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY" and am currently working with a file 20 inches by 20 inches, 700 ppi.

Seeing as it takes me practically 3 minutes of loading to accomplish simple tasks like erasing, distorting, and resizing; I am pretty sure this size is too big.

I don't remember what my teacher usually has me working in, but I know bigger is (generally) better, and the images seem perfectly happy to be in such a big size. I haven't had to deal with any pixelation just yet, all my effects (even though I've only done like 3, since it's so dang slow) seem to be looking good.

So basically, I'm wondering what size would be best to compromise this lovely sucess, get a good looking image when I'm done (not sure the size he'll want to print it, though I'll probably just print it on 7 1/2"x 11" for the first day of school), and at the same time have a speed that is actually workable.

Any help? Or is Hagrid just a SUPER LAME computer and my issue lies there?
<:E vekke
Today was lovely. I went to a 5 hour meeting for our freshmen-connection-thing, watched a Lois & Clark with Christine (as well as the rest of this tuesday's "10 things I hate about you" since she hadn't seen it) and we cleaned for awhile. We have a wedding shower for our family friend tomorrow.

THEN it was a very exciting night for TV. If such a thing isn't an oxymoron.

New Wizards & Vampires episode was very cute...it focused on Alex more than Justin almost, which was kind of nice to see. Alex and Harper were hilarious, and Justin was very realistic/immature/mature. It was good!

And season premiere of Suite Life on Deck was also very good. Honestly, I'm just watching it for Bailey (and Cody), but the other characters can be really funny sometimes and I wasn't disappointed... it wasn't the cutest cutest episode ever regarding Bailey and Cody, and I kind of thought she was taking her power over him to an uncharacteristic point at the end, but it was still exciting for them to be a couple.

BUTBUTBUT most important show

New Psych!!!

Seeing as it was in Canada and I like Canada, it was already exciting. Very hilarious (I laughed a lottttt) and very good case. Felt nice to be watching Psych again, and it felt like a true psych episode. Very satisfying.

But Shawn and Jules....oh my goodness, those two....NEED to be together. He needs to date Abigail for 2-3 more episodes, but then be single again so they can stop having this...tension. It was sweet how Shawn had no idea how to be platonic with Jules ("you look...normal" hahaha) and at the same time it was sweet how he was trying so hard to do it so he's faithful to his girlfriend. But still! I like straight up sweet better than bittersweet. Except with chocolate.

My friend who watched Psych and I discussed Shawn and Jules before, and I always said that I want them to be actually together, so I want Shawn to grow up a little first. She, of course, disagreed and went on about how fun and cute he is and therefore Jules should just learn to love that. Which isn't exactly how you build a relationship, but I suppose neither of us have the best track records to compare to. ;) But now, with seeing how he has to deal with these girls (and the other girls on the slopes hahaha) I think he is growing up. This is forcing him to grow up a bit. And I like that.

so he should go date Juliet now.

Google Homepage! IS AWESOME!!!
It's all DC comics-upped for ComicCon (which amuses me that Google actually accepted an entry to celebrate ComicCon...but whatevs its still awesome). DC designed it, so there's a realllly awesome Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman lookin' lovely, an acceptable white Green Lantern, and a few others.

But there's no Superman.

um....DC....newsflash? Not ONLY is Superman OBVIOUSLY the best Super hero in the world, he is kind of your MAIN superhero. People who know the difference between DC and Marvel know Superman and Batman for DC. Robin just looks stupid, and you already HAVE the Dark Knight himself. SUPERMAN SHOULD BE THERE.

It's good as it is, I do love it. Just...I miss my boy. <3

and I want my schedule of new seasons posted somewhere.

Dr. Who- Sunday, July 26 (!!!)
Suite Life on Deck- Friday, August 7 (I LOVE how Disney Channel hiatuses are like...two weeks long. :D Very convenient when I just got addicted last Friday...)
Psych- ALSO Friday, August 7!!!

GLEE- Wednesday, September 16 (sooner please C:)
Office- Thursday, September 17

Smallville- Friday, Spetember 25 (Okay, I LOVE that it's finally getting Friday Night DEATH spot. It deserves it. But this seriously ruins Fictional Journalism Club's plans!!)

30 Rock- Thursday, October 15 (heeey I'll be an adult by then! :D)

Chuck- Monday, March 1

Wizards of Waverly Place is still going, and I can't find season 3 info...but that's fine beacause we're still in season 2, and this is Disney Channel, so it'll be fine.

Geez, with Pushing Daisies gone (stab me with a spoon) and quitting Heroes, I actually have...gasp...ROOM for new shows. That's ridiculous. :| (OR I could be a sane person and just save myself those two hours of my life every week.)

my brother and his wife are in town, and they're playing Super Paper Mario.
 SUPER PAPER MARIO!

And what am I doing? Sitting in here, doing consumer ec and government. Not even anything FUN. In fact, this is my first break in a long time because it made me so jealous I had to come here and complain.

I'm missing all the comedy and characters. :C
At least Peach and Bowser don't show up again for a few chapters....I didn't know they were playing, so I completely missed the wedding scene.

so my sister isn't home just for kicks. There's this big singing competition for music majors in chicago this weekend, so she came home but also brought like 20 of her vocal preformance major friends from BYU. They're having a party right now.

it's so funny. Music nerds and mormons are both hilarious to me (which is ironic since I am both), so the combo, especially a house full of ones that I have never met, is just delicious. :P I was cleaning my fish's tank and I swear I got three italian arias in a row, following a piano concerto.

they're in the kitchen eating their barbeque food, and spazzing out over the juice-and-sprite combo my mom put out. Amusing themselves with discussion of music nerdy stuff, marriages, BYU, and the likes. one girl is (and I'm quite serious) passing the time by flipping through our stake directory. Apparently she finds great amusement that our wards are more than one neighborhood large.

I just love Utah mormons. they're so funny. I would never want to raise any of my children to turn into them, but they're just so...funny. XD
A party full of college kids shouldn't involve chattering about American Idol with my mom, drinking juice-and-sprite, and singing cantatas as they walk from condiments to tables.

also
five school days left <3

edit: apparently there was only about10 of them. They just kept moving I thought there was more! hahaha
and the best part was definately when they started playing rockband in one room (loud, with half the group singing along in their vocal-majors-just-wanna-have-fun "bad" voices) and the other half were practicing their classical repetoire. hehehehehe
